How Students Complete Online Assignments

When you generate online assignments, students log in to Renaissance Place and complete the assignments using a computer or a tablet. When students complete assignments, they are marked automatically by the software.

Students can also review past assignments, view their progress and view resources in the software.

Students follow these steps to complete an assignment:

  1. Log in to Renaissance Place.
  2. On the student Home page, select Accelerated Maths.
  3. If a Choose Your Class window opens, select the class you want to do work for; then, select Done.
  4. If you see a Group drop-down list, use it to choose whether to do work for the class or a group.
  5. Select Start for the type of assignment you want to work on (practice, test, exercise or diagnostic test). (If you have worked on the assignment before, select Resume instead of Start.)
  6. Select the green Start button to start the assignment.
  7. For practices and exercises, you can also print a copy of the online assignment by clicking Print Assignment on this page. You can print the assignment from the new window that opens. Even if you print the assignment, you still need to complete it online by following these steps.

  8. You will see the first problem on the assignment. To answer each problem, select an answer, and then select Next.
    • If you need help with a problem, select Problem Help (or ). You may see peer help, which shows you the names of other students who may be able to help you with this objective.
    • If you want to flag this problem because you have a question or you want to come back to it, select Flag.
    • If you want to see which problems you have answered, select . You will see all of the problem numbers with the answers you have chosen. The problems you have not answered will be empty. You will also see your flags.
  9. When you answer the last question, select Review and Submit instead of Next.
  10. You will see all of the problem numbers with the answers you chose. If you selected Flag for any problem, you will see a flag on that problem. You can select any problem number to go back to it. If you have completed the assignment, select Submit.
  11. The program will ask if you are sure that you want to submit the assignment. You cannot make any changes after you submit your work. If you are sure, select OK. If not, select Cancel to go back to the problem numbers.
  12. After you submit the assignment, you will see:
    • All of the problem numbers with your answers. Correct answers will have a green tick; incorrect answers will have a red cross (X). Select a problem number to see that problem again.
    • A list of the objectives related to the assignment and your score for this assignment and overall marking.

If you want a printed copy of the summary, click Print, then select your printer. (The printed copy may also include the correct answers to missed questions and a signature line for parents; teachers set this in the TOPS Report and Online Review preference.)

When you have reviewed the summary, select Done. You will go back to the Assignments page.

  13. If you have finished working in the software, select Log Out in the top-right corner of the page.
