Putting Objectives on Hold

In the Assignment Book, you can follow the steps below to place students' objectives on Hold. Objectives that are on Hold do not appear on any practices, exercises or tests. By placing objectives on hold, you can present your students with specific objectives while keeping others from being included on practices, exercises or tests.

You can make objectives that are on Hold active again in the Assignment Book by assigning them again; the objectives will return it to their previous status. Note: Objectives marked Intervene do not return to their previous status; instead, they return to the Assigned state, and all student work on the objective is lost.

Who can do this with default capabilities?

School Network/RP Administrators, School Administrators and Teachers

  1. On the Home page, click Accelerated Maths, then Assignment Book. In the Assignment Book, if you have access to more than one school, use the School drop-down list to choose a school. If you have more than one class, click the Class drop-down list and choose the class for which you want to put objectives on hold. If you want to put objectives on hold for students in a group, select the group from the Group drop-down list.

  2. In the Assignment Book, tick the box next to each student who needs an objective placed on hold. If you want to select all students, you do not need to tick any boxes before you go on to the next step.
  3. On the left side of the page, you will see a list of options. Click Hold/Un-assign/Reset in this list.
  4. In the page that appears, tick the box for each objective that you want to put on hold.
  5. Tick the box that appears where the column for the objective and the row for the student intersect. If you want to select the same objective for all students, click in the box next to the objective number at the top of the column. To see the descriptions and libraries for objectives, position your mouse over the objective numbers. You can also scroll through the list of objectives at the top of the page.

Only some of the objectives in the list will be shown. Click to go to the next group of objectives, to go back one group, to go to the last group in the objective list or to go to the first group. You can also use the drop-down list in the middle of the arrows to choose a specific group of objective numbers.

  6. Click Hold. The Hold () symbol will appear next to the objectives you selected.

If students have the same objectives in more than one place, such as the class and a group, putting an objective on hold in one place for the student puts it on hold everywhere for that student.
