How Students Master Objectives in the Assignment Book

Within the Assignment Book, the student must go through a few stages to master an objective. Here is an overview of the process:

  1. The teacher assigns objectives for students.
  2. The teacher generates the first practice or exercise for the students. The status of the objective changes to Working ().
  3. The student completes the practice or exercise.
  4. For online assignments, students log in and complete the assignment, which is marked when they submit their work.

For paper assignments, the student can

The teacher can also mark it by scanning the form or by entering the answers manually (keyboard scoring).

  5. If the student answered enough problems correctly (as determined by the mastery criteria), the status of an objective changes to Ready to Test (). If not, the status will change to Ready to Work (), and the student needs to complete more practices or exercises that include the objective. (If the student consistently answers problems from an objective incorrectly, the status could change to Intervene.)
  6. Once the student is ready to test, the teacher generates a test for the student. The objective's status changes to Testing ().
  7. The test is completed or marked.
  8. If the student answered enough problems correctly, the status of an objective changes to Mastered (). If not, the status will change back to Ready to Test, and the student needs to complete more tests that include the objective. (If the student consistently answers test problems from an objective incorrectly, the status could change to Intervene.)
  9. Two weeks after an objective has been mastered, the program begins including one review problem from the objective on practices. Once the student has answered enough problems correctly, the status of an objective changes to Reviewed (). If not, the status will not change, and the student needs to complete more practices that include review problems. (If the student consistently answers review problems from an objective incorrectly, the status could change to Intervene.)
