Install the Renaissance Responder Program (Windows)

Who can do this with default capabilities?

School Network/RP Administrators, School Network Staff, School Administrators, School Staff and Teachers

For paper Accelerated Math assignments, students can enter their answers using Renaissance Responders or NEO 2s for scoring. (Online assignments are completed in the Accelerated Math software instead.)

If you will be using Renaissance Responders or NEO 2s with Accelerated Math, the Renaissance Responder software needs to be installed on computers that have a Renaissance Receiver connected.

Make sure you are logged into the computer with the rights or permissions required to install software for all users. If you do not know whether you have those rights at the computer, or if you do not have those rights, contact your school's technology/computer coordinator.

To download and install the program on Windows computers, follow these steps:

  1. Before you log in, on the Renaissance Place Welcome page, click Check Software Requirements.
  2. If you have already logged in, on the Home page, click Product Administration; then, click Download Supporting Software.

  3. On the next page, click Downloads on the left (or on the top).
  4. When the Downloads page opens, first note the server name or IP address; then, under Renaissance Place Downloads, click Renaissance Responder on the Windows tab.
  5. When you choose to download the program, your browser may let you choose what to do with the program. Choose to save the file to your computer.
  6. Double-click the file that you just downloaded (ResponderInstaller1.8.1WinUS.exe).
  7. If your computer does not have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Full, you will see a message telling you that the Renaissance Responder program requires it. Click Install.
  8. On Windows 8, instead of seeing the .NET installer, you will be notified that an app needs the feature; click Download and install this feature.

  9. When the Renaissance Responder installation wizard appears, click Next >.
  10. Click Install to start installation. (If the program tells you that the Renaissance Wireless Server Utility is in use, click one of the options and click OK).
  11. Click Finish when the installation is complete.
  12. A message may open, telling you that the computer needs to be restarted. To restart now, click Yes; if you want to wait, click No.
  13. Start the program. In most versions of Windows, you will find it in the Start menu; for Windows 8, you will find it in the list of applications.
  14. When the program asks you to enter your Renaissance Place server address, enter the server IP address that you noted in step 3. (If the program does not ask you to do this, it may have chosen the server that you are using for the AccelScan Scanning software. You can change the server if necessary by clicking the Edit menu and choosing Server Settings.) Click OK after you enter the IP address.
  15. To log in, enter your Accelerated Maths user name and password and click Log In.
