Mastery Criteria

Each objective has its own mastery criteria - the standards that students must meet in order to progress through the Ready to Work ()/Working (), Ready to Test ()/Testing () and Mastered () states to complete work on the objective. When the student has finished, the objective is marked Reviewed.

When you edit an objective, you can view and change the mastery criteria for three categories: Practice, Test and Review:

  • Practice Mastery Criteria: Students must meet the Practice Mastery Criteria to move from Ready to Work or Working to Ready to Test. If the mastery criteria is 5/6, the student must correctly answer 5 out of the last 6 practice problems. (Practice problems appear on practices and exercises.) Students do not need to meet the criteria in the first 6 problems they work on; they can work on up to 18 problems on this objective (three times the minimum number of problems). If students have worked on the maximum number of problems without meeting the mastery criteria, the status of the objective changes to Intervene.
  • Test Mastery Criteria: Students must meet the Test Mastery Criteria to move from Ready to Test or Testing to Mastered. If the mastery criteria is 4/5, the student must correctly answer 4 out of the last 5 test problems from this objective. Students can work on up to 10 test problems from this objective (twice the minimum number of problems). If students have worked on the maximum number of test problems from the objective without meeting the mastery criteria, the status of the objective changes to Intervene.
  • Review Mastery Criteria: Students must meet the Review Mastery Criteria to move from Mastered to Reviewed. (Review problems appear on practices starting two weeks after an objective has been mastered.) If the mastery criteria is 3/4, the student must correctly answer 3 out of the last 4 review problems from this objective. Students can work on up to 8 review problems from the objective (twice the minimum number of problems). If students have worked on the maximum number of review problems without meeting the mastery criteria, the status of the objective changes to Intervene.

You can print the Objective List Report to see the mastery criteria for each objective in your class Assignment Books.
