Symbols Used to Show Student Progress

The following symbols appear on many Accelerated Maths pages. They show you the progress that one student is making on one objective. For more about each symbol, click the link.

This symbol means you have assigned the objective to a student, but you have not yet generated a practice or exercise for that objective. The student is ready to work on the objective.

One green arrow means you have generated and marked practices or exercises that include problems from this objective. The student is working on the objective, but he or she has no outstanding assignments, and the student is not yet ready to take a test on the objective.

Two green arrows mean you have generated a practice or an exercise that includes this objective, but you have not yet completed or marked the assignment.

One yellow arrow means that the student has met the Practice mastery criteria for the objective by correctly answering the required number of problems in the practices and exercises. The student is ready to take a test that includes the objective. Note: You can change the practice, test and review mastery criteria for each objective.

Two yellow arrows mean you have generated a test that includes this objective, but you have not yet completed or marked the test.

A tick mark means the student has correctly answered the number of test problems required to master the objective (the Testing mastery criteria). Two weeks after the student masters an objective, review problems from the objective appear on practices so the student can complete work on the objective.

A red I means the student needs extra help with the objective. The status of an objective changes to Intervene when the student fails to meet the objective's Practice, Test, or Review mastery criteria after a certain number of attempts. (You can change these mastery criteria for each objective.) Once the student is ready to work on this objective again, you can generate the appropriate assignment or test.

Diagnosing means the teacher has generated a diagnostic test. Use a diagnostic test to test a student on an objective without requiring the student to meet the Practice requirements (mastery criteria) first.

The grey square means the student has met the requirements (mastery criteria) for practice, test and review. The student has finished working on this objective, and problems from it will no longer appear on practices, exercises or tests.

The two grey bars mean the objective has been put on hold. You can make the objective active and available to the student by reassigning it. If the student was working on the objective when you put it on hold, the objective will return to its previous state. Note: Intervene objectives do not return to the Intervene state; they return to Assigned instead.

If students are working on the same objectives in more than one group or in both a group and the class as a whole, when the status of an objective changes in one place for the student, it changes everywhere. For example, if the student masters an objective for a group and has the same objective for the class, the objective is shown as mastered for the class too.
