Blocking Students from Taking Quizzes

There are several ways for you to block students from taking quizzes in Accelerated Reader:

  • By managing the quizzes/books that are available. School network and school administrators can choose specific books and quizzes to be available or unavailable at their schools.
  • Using the Date and Time Restrictions preferences. You can use these School preferences to block the students in a school from taking a quiz before, after or during certain times, days or dates. This block applies to all quiz types. Note: The teacher can override this block using the authorisation password if you have enabled the Override Authorisation Preference.
  • Using the Quiz Set-up preference. You can use this Class preference to indicate which quiz types the students in a class are and are not allowed to take. The preference also allows you to restrict the books that the class can find and quiz on by book level and interest level. Note: The teacher cannot override this block even if you have enabled the Override Authorisation Preference.
  • Using the Vocabulary Practice Student Comprehension preference. You can use this preference to prevent students from taking a Vocabulary Practice Quiz unless they have passed the Reading Practice Quiz for the same title. You can find this preference under the Class Student Quizzing preferences. Note: The teacher may be allowed to override this block if you have enabled the Override Authorisation Preference; however, on some sites, the opportunity to override the block is not available because students do not see the Vocabulary Practice Quiz type until they have passed the Reading Practice Quiz.
