The School Date and Time Restriction preferences include the following: Date Restrictions, Time Restrictions, Weekend Restrictions and Override Authorisation. Each preference is described below in the step with the directions for changing its settings. The settings apply on all quiz types (Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice and Literacy Skills).

  1. On the Home page, click Accelerated Reader, then Preferences.

  2. Click Date and Time Restrictions in the School Preferences section on the Preferences page.
  3. Choose a school from the School drop-down list on the View Date and Time Restrictions Preferences page.
  4. Click Edit Date and Time Restrictions.
  5. The Edit Date and Time Restriction Preferences page opens. The settings found on this page and instructions for changing each one are listed below:
    • Date Restrictions: These settings specify dates before and after which the students at this school are not allowed to take quizzes. To edit:
      1. If you want to restrict students from quizzing before or after a certain date, tick the Before Date or After Date box.
      2. Type the date before or after which you do not want the students quizzing, or click the calendar button to choose a date.
    • Time Restrictions: These settings specify times of the day before and after which the students at this school are not allowed to take quizzes. To edit:
      1. To restrict students from quizzing before or after a certain time, tick the Before Time or After Time box.
      2. Then, type the time of day before or after which you do not want the students quizzing. Make sure you also type AM or PM or use 24-hour time.

    • Override Authorisation: These settings show whether the teacher has permission to override blocks so that students can quiz during a restricted date or time.
    • The School Student Quizzing preferences also have a setting for allowing the teacher to override the preference. If you change this setting here, it will also be changed there.

To change the setting, tick the Allow authorisation password override of Date and Time Restrictions box to allow your teachers to override any date or time restrictions you have set up on quizzing.

  6. Click Save when you have finished.
