Set a Reading Practice Certification Target for a Student
When you set Reading Practice certification targets and enable the TWI Monitoring Preference, Accelerated Reader automatically monitors student progress toward the targets and awards certifications when students meet the requirements. For definitions of certifications and their requirements, click Reader certifications in the list at the end of this topic.
Who can do this with standard capabilities?
School Network Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers
On the Home page, click Accelerated Reader, then Record Books and Targets.
If necessary, choose the school and class from the drop-down lists. Choose My Classes instead of a school if you want only the Accelerated Reader RP classes you are assigned to as a teacher to be in the class list, regardless of the school.
Click Reading Practice Certifications in the list of Class Record Books.
The View Reading Practice Certifications Record Book page opens and lists the students in your class. For each student, the page shows the certification target or the last certification achieved. It also includes the date the student started work on the certification and the date the student achieved it (if it has been achieved and there is no new target). The Status column shows you whether the certification is in progress, has been achieved, or needs approval and whether a new target is needed.
If you clicked Set Target or More for a student, the Set Student Reading Practice Certification Target page opens.
To set a target for a student who has not achieved any certifications, click Set Target in the Actions/New Targets column.
Students who have already achieved certifications will have multiple links in the Actions/New Targets column. To set a target for one of these students, you can click the link for the certification you would like the student to work toward or you can click More to choose a different target. (If you click one of the certifications shown in this column, the new target is set immediately and is reflected in this list; you do not need to go on to the next step.)
Click Save when you have finished.
Choose the certification the student should work toward from the Current Certification Target drop-down list.
Click on of the available options to set the start date for the student's work toward this certification. The start date helps Accelerated Reader decide which quizzes to count toward the certification. You can set the start date immediately after the student's last achieved certification, at the start of a marking period or on another date that you specify. If you choose the start of a marking period, choose the marking period from the drop-down list. If you choose Other date, type the start date, or click the calendar button to choose a date.
