Viewing/Editing the Student Experience Preference

School network and school administrators can use this preference to select which students will see which student interface. By default, nursery - year 4 will see the Primary interface, while years 5 and up will see the independent reader interface. School network staff, school staff and teachers can view the preference setting but not edit it.

Primary students see a different results page after a quiz, and the Next button takes them to a different progress page (with a growing flower). There are also small changes in other pages. Non-primary students go back to the Reading page after viewing their results for a quiz, and they see graphs instead of a flower on the Progress page. See the examples below.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

School Network Administrators, School Administrators

  1. On the Home page, click Accelerated Reader, then Preferences.
  2. Click Student Experience Preference.
  3. On the Edit Student Experience Preferences page, click View Software Requirements to make sure your student computers and devices meet the minimum requirements.

  4. To see what the different interfaces look like, click the See what this looks like links to open the student experience videos for each interface.
  5. Click the circles to change which years see which interface. Click Save when you are finished.
