The Target-Setting Chart is one of the Resources available to help you implement Accelerated Reader in your classroom. You can find this chart in the Forms and Charts section on the Resources page:
- On the Home page, click Accelerated Reader, then Resources.
- Click Resources.
- Select the Target-Setting Chart or the Target-Setting Chart for Lexile® Measures (both are described below).
The Target-Setting Chart is a useful tool in setting Reading Practice targets in Accelerated Reader. The chart lists a suggested Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) range (the range of book levels that should be appropriate for different reading levels), as well as the expected points students could earn given 60, 30 or 20 minutes of daily, in-class reading time. Use the chart as a flexible guideline for setting personalised, realistic targets with your students based on their reading levels, amount of practice time and need for success or challenge.
Target-Setting Chart for Lexile® Measures
This chart is also available from the Forms and Charts section of the Resources. Use this chart if the current book level has been changed to the Lexile® Measure throughout the software. Similar to the Target-Setting Chart mentioned above, this chart will help you set Reading Practice targets when the Lexile® Measure is being used. Use this chart as a flexible guideline for setting personalised, realistic targets with your students based on their Lexile® Measure reading levels, amount of practice time and need for success or challenge.
