How Students Work in Renaissance Home Connect
Renaissance Home Connect is a way for teachers, students, parents and guardians to actively monitor student progress from home.
For MathsFacts in a Flash, Renaissance Home Connect will support further acceleration of learning in Maths by supporting parents/guardians' efforts to monitor their children's maths progress, motivating student maths practice beyond the classroom and removing barriers to students progressing at their own pace.
Students use Renaissance Home Connect for practice (practice problems and practice tests). Students cannot test to master levels in Renaissance Home Connect.
Students can use a computer or tablet to connect to Renaissance Home Connect.
You have access to Renaissance Home Connect.
In Renaissance Place, on the Home page, program administrators and teachers will see Renaissance Home Connect.
Students, parents and guardians log in to Renaissance Home Connect, using information provided by your school (via the Renaissance Home Connect Informational Letter).
Use Renaissance Home Connect to issue email invitations to others (i.e., extended family members and/or tutors).

Before students work in Renaissance Home Connect, check the following:
In a web browser, go to the address provided by the teacher or school.
The students enter their user names and passwords and select Log In.
On the maths tab in Renaissance Home Connect, select the MathsFacts in a Flash tab if necessary.
On the MathsFacts in a Flash tab, the results of the student's last session at school are shown first:
number of problems answered correctly
time and the targets for accuracy and time
correct answer to any problem answered incorrectly
number of levels mastered
Select Home Results under the tab to see similar information for the last practice and/or test that the student completed in Renaissance Home Connect.
Reports for Teachers
The Class Progress Report and the Student Record Report are generated by teachers at school. These reports can include a practice summary of students' work completed in Renaissance Home Connect.
Select Start Practising on the right side of the MathsFacts in a Flash tab.
If the Start MathsFacts page opens, select Start.
Select the desired level.
Students can select any level, not just the one they are working on at school.
Students may need to scroll to find the exact level.
An asterisk (*) identifies the student's current level at school.
The list of levels includes information about the students' last Renaissance Home Connect session at each level, including the date, the type of work completed (practice or test), the accuracy, the time and the best time at school.
Select Practice or Test. In Renaissance Home Connect, students can select either activity at any time.
Answer each problem in the practice or test.
In practices, if students choose a wrong answer, the program puts an X over that answer and circles the correct one. Then, the problem is shown again so students can choose the correct answer.
In tests, students can change the answer to the previous problem. Students select Back and choose a different answer. (Students can only go back one problem.)
Time limits are enforced in Renaissance Home Connect just as they are when students complete work at school. When time is almost up, a clock begins flashing on the screen. If students do not select an answer before time runs out for a problem, the unanswered problem is considered incorrect.
To stop working during a practice or test, press Ctrl+A (Windows computer), control+A (Macintosh computer), or tap x (close the window on a tablet). The program asks if the student wants to stop working. Students select OK to confirm.
Stopped practices and tests cannot be resumed.
When students answer the last problem on the practice or test, the program shows the results, including accuracy, time and the correct answers to problems students got wrong.
Note: TOPS Reports do not print for Renaissance Home Connect sessions.
To go back to the list of levels, select Show Levels. To stop practising, select Exit.
If students go back to the list of levels, the results from the session will be displayed next to the level in the list.
