User Names and Passwords

When a person (student, teacher, staff or administrator) is added to the Renaissance Place database, the personnel record for that person includes assigning a user name and password. Whoever creates the personnel record must provide the user name and password to each person using Renaissance Place.

Your school may use a template for creating user names and passwords. Example: First letter of the user's first name, followed by the first four letters of the last name.

The first time a person logs in to Renaissance Place, he or she must use the assigned user name and password.

Notes:

Personnel (teachers, staff members and administrators) passwords must be three or more characters long and include at least one number.

User names and passwords are not case-sensitive. However, if the CAPS LOCK key is engaged, people may experience problems logging in (symbols may be substituted for numbers).

If you have questions about user names and passwords, contact your school administrator or school network administrator.

For Renaissance Home Connect, parents use their child's user name and password.

You can see and print a list of student user names and passwords in Renaissance Place.

You may also contact your school administrator or school network administrator.

Note: For security reasons, you cannot view or print a list or report of teacher, staff or administrator user names and passwords.

User Names

To view user names for teachers, staff and administrators:

  • When teachers, staff or administrators forget their passwords, and they have completed the My Settings page:
  • They can select Forgot Your User Name or Password? on the right side of the login page. They will be asked a security question to verify their identity before they are allowed to reset their passwords.

When teachers, staff or administrators forget their passwords, and they have not completed the My Settings page:

A school network administrator or school administrator clears the locked account (see below), changes the password (by editing the personal record for the person), and requires the person to enter a new password at the next login (also part of editing the personal record).

If the school network administrator password is forgotten, and the school network administrator did not enter an email address and security questions on the Renaissance Place My Settings page, please contact Renaissance Learning.

An authorisation password may be required when a student stops a test or a mandatory practice.

The Authorisation Password Preference determines if the password is used and what the password is.

The default setting is Require Authorisation Password.

The default password is ADMIN.

Accounts become locked when a user enters an incorrect password too many times.

The number of allowed attempts is determined in Renaissance Place.

Only School Network Administrators can set the number of allowed attempts.

All accounts (except school network administrators) are automatically unlocked at midnight each day.

All accounts (except school network administrators) can be unlocked as needed (you don't have to wait).

School network administrators can unlock any user account.

School administrators can unlock accounts for users at their school.

Teachers can unlock accounts for students enrolled in their classes.
