Adding or Editing Non-Teaching Days

You can use non-teaching days to record holidays and other occasions when school is not in session. Renaissance Place uses this information to calculate the number of actual school days in the school year or a reporting period; this number is used in calculations in some reports.

Who can do this with default capabilities?

School Network Administrators, School Network Staff, School Administrators, School Staff

If you are a school administrator and you are assigned to more than one school, on the Home page, select your name and then select Change Role to choose the school you want to work with before following these steps.

You can only add or edit non-teaching days in the current school year or a future school year, not a past school year. For past school years, the add and edit links are not available, but you can view non-teaching days.

  1. If you want to add or edit non-teaching days for a future school year, you need to choose to work in that school year first.
  2. On the Home page, click School Years.
  3. Click Add/Edit Non-Teaching Days.
  4. If you are a school network administrator or school network staff member and you have more than one school, on the Select Schools page, tick the box next to each school for which you want to set non-teaching days. Then, click Next >.
  5. On the Add/Edit Non-Teaching Days page, you can add, edit or delete non-teaching days.
  6. If you see the Copy Non-Teaching Days link, you can click it to copy non-teaching days from the previous school year. This link is not available if there are no non-teaching days to copy or you have already copied them.

    To add a day off:

    1. Type the name, start date and end date in the appropriate blank fields. You can also click the calendar buttons to set the start and end dates.
    2. Click Add. The non-teaching day will be added to the list at the bottom of the page.

In the list of the non-teaching days that you have added, you can do the following:

    • To edit a non-teaching day, find the day in the list and click Edit in the row for that day ( above). The information for the day will appear in the fields at the top of the page so that you can change or delete information as needed. When you have finished, click Update.
    • To delete a non-teaching day, find the day in the list at the bottom of the page. Click Delete in the row for the day ( above).
    • To re-sort the list by start date, click Start Date. To sort by name again, click Name.

If you are setting non-teaching days for multiple schools, click the number of schools at the top of the page or in the table to see the school names.

  7. When you have finished setting or changing the non-teaching days, click Save.
