How Personnel Reset a Forgotten Password

Personnel who have forgotten their password can follow these steps to reset it. Note that these steps will only work for personnel who have previously entered their email address on the Login Settings page and verified the email address.

  1. On the Renaissance Place start page, click I am a Teacher/Administrator.
  2. On the Teacher/Administrator login page, click Forgot Your User Name or Password? under the Log In button.
  3. Enter your user name. Then, click Next.
  4. If you have not entered and verified your email address, you will be told that you cannot use this feature to reset your password. Contact the software administrator and ask to have your password reset. The administrator can do this by editing personnel information.
  5. If you have previously entered and verified your email address, one of two things will happen:

    • If you have entered security questions as well, you will be asked whether you want to reset your password using security questions or your email. Click an option; then, click Next.
    • If you have not entered security questions before, you will be taken straight to the email page. See step 5.
  6. Next, you will either be asked to enter your email address or enter the answer to a security question. Enter the information; then, click Next.
  7. If you answered a security question correctly, you will go to the Reset Password page.
  8. If you entered your email address, you will be sent an email. In that email, click the link to go to the Reset Password page. (You must click the link within 24 hours; if you need a new email, repeat these steps.)

  9. You will be asked to enter a new password twice. Enter a new password in the two fields, then click Done.
  10. Click OK when the program notifies you that your password has been reset. You will then go back to the login page; log in with your user name and the new password you set.

The Set Login Attempts preference sets how many attempts are allowed for resetting a password using security questions.
