Teacher Capabilities

The teacher group includes personnel with these positions: EAL teacher, lead teacher, team teacher and other teacher.

Teachers have these capabilities by default:

Manage Content Manage content, such as quizzes or libraries.
View Content View content, such as quizzes or libraries.

Student Information

View Students and Class Enrolments View the student information for the teacher's students, including class enrolment.

Classroom Work

Manage Class Activities Manage student assignments, targets, scores and class reports for the teacher's classes, including Record and Assignment Books.
View Class View class work for the teacher's classes, such as student assignments, targets and scores, including Record and Assignment Books.

Reports

Teacher Reports View reports for the teacher's classes.
Filter Reports by Characteristics Limit reports to students who have been assigned specific characteristics in Renaissance Place.
Filter Reports by Ethnicity Limit reports to students with specific ethnicities, which are set when you add students or edit their information.

Software Preferences

View School Preferences View school-level preferences for any Renaissance Place product at the teacher's school.

Capabilities that can be added for teachers:

  • The Manage capability lets you add, edit or delete courses and classes for your school(s), copy classes from the previous school year, add or remove team teachers for classes and add or remove students in them. The View capability allows you to see course and class information.

  • Schedule when the software consolidates data from all products for Consolidated reports.

  • The Manage capability lets you add or remove capabilities (rights) for any school group in the software. The View capability lets you see the capabilities granted to these groups.

  • Add, edit, copy or delete marking periods (terms) and non-teaching days for your school(s).

  • The Manage capability lets you add, edit or delete personnel and assign them to your school(s). The View capability lets you view personnel information.

  • Permanently remove and recover student records. Note: All users who are given this capability must be given the Manage Students and Class Enrolments capability as well.

  • Add students, enrol students in classes, edit student information and characteristics, manage custom characteristics in the database and delete students from the database. This does not include the ability to import, export or merge student information.

  • Add, edit or delete the time periods used on Renaissance Place consolidated reports.

  • Enrol students in your school(s).

  • Manage the current settings of school-level preferences. School-level preferences are on each product's Preferences page.

  • Merge duplicate student records into one record.

  • These capabilities allow you to print reports for your school.

  • Export students in your school at the school, teacher, year, class or student level.

  • Import student information into your school(s) and classes.

  • View information for any class in your school in any product.

Some capabilities that are intended for other groups may not be available to teachers, including these: Change Data Editing Preference, School Network-Level Student Export, School Network-Level Student Import, School Network Reports, Manage School Network, Manage School Network Preferences, Manage School Year, Manage Schools, View Schools and View School Network Preferences.
