Annual Progress Report

Who can do this with default capabilities?

The STAR Reading Annual Progress Report provides a graphic display of a student's progress across a school year in comparison to either a National Norm Reference or a year-end target.

The audience for this report is primarily teachers who are using STAR Reading for periodic progress monitoring.

Depending on the setting of the Lexile® Measures preference, you may see the Lexile® measure and the Lexile® ZPD on the report as well.

  1. Click STAR Reading on the Home page, then click Reports.
  2. Select your school from the School drop-down list, if necessary.
  3. Click Annual Progress on the Select Report page.
  4. Select the options you want to customise for this report on the Report Options page. When you customise this report, you can choose these options:

    Use the drop-down list to choose all the students in a specific class, or click Students, Classes or Groups to choose specific students, classes or groups.

    "Groups" refers to groups of students that have been created specifically for reporting purposes.)

    • When selecting specific students, you will see a checklist of all students enrolled in STAR Reading classes. Tick each student you want on the report or tick the Student box at the top of the column to select all of them.
    • When selecting specific classes, you will see a checklist of all STAR Reading classes. Tick each class you want on the report or tick the Class box at the top of the column to select all of them.
    • When selecting specific groups, you will see a checklist of all student groups in STAR Reading classes. Tick each group you want on the report or tick the Group box at the top of the column to select all of them.

    Once the desired students, classes or groups have been selected and saved, you will return to the Report Options page.

    Reporting Parameter Group

    For the Annual Progress Report, the reporting period is always an entire school year.

    Use this option to choose a range of dates to include testing data from.

    • You must have at least one date range chosen.
    • You can add more date ranges (up to 10) to this report in order to compare multiple date ranges (for example, you can compare all test results from the first quarter against the second quarter or all test results from one month against another month, etc.).
    • Date ranges should not overlap.
    • You need to choose Class, Teacher or Year for the Group By option in order to select a Test Date Range. If the Group By option is set to Student, you will not be able to select a Test Date Range.

    Choose whether or not to include student IDs on this report.

    Choose how to group the information on the report: by class, year, teacher or student.

    • This report uses both the Group By and Sort By options; if a Group By option is chosen, it is applied first on the report.
    • You need to choose Class, Teacher or Year for the Group By option in order to select a Test Date Range. If the Group By option is set to Student, you will not be able to select a Test Date Range.

    Choose how to sort information on the report: by students' last names or by their student IDs.

    Note: This report uses both the Group By and Sort By options; if a Group By option is chosen, it is applied first on the report.

    Use this option to print a list of the options you have chosen on the report. If you decide to run the report again at a later date, you can refer to this list of options to make sure you are using the same ones.

  5. Click View Report when you have finished choosing options.
  6. STAR Reading will generate the report. When it is ready, the report will open in Adobe Reader, or your default PDF reader.
