Scaled Score (SS)
The Scaled Score is the most fundamental score produced by STAR Reading tests. It ranges from 0 to 1400 and spans years 1 through 13. It is calculated based on the difficulty of the questions and the number of correct responses. The Scaled Score is useful for comparing student performance over time and across years. In STAR Reading tests, all other norm-referenced scores are derived from the Scaled Score.
The Scaled Score is included on the Annual Progress Report, the Diagnostic Report, the Growth Report, the Screening Report, the Student Progress Monitoring Report, the Summary Report and the Test Record Report.
