Viewing Groups and Group Sets
In some Maths Dashboard views, you can choose which group set to view: STAR Benchmarks or group sets that you have created.
- STAR Benchmarks Groups: If students have taken STAR Maths tests, in the STAR Benchmarks groups, the students are automatically placed in groups that are based on the benchmark categories of their STAR Maths test results. (These groups are based on the benchmarks that are set as the default in STAR Maths.) The group colours reflect these categories. If students have not taken STAR Maths tests, they are all placed in the same group. You can view STAR Benchmarks groups, but you cannot change them.
- Groups you have added: You can also set up your own groups for use in the Maths Dashboard.
Viewing Data for Groups in the Maths Overview
Select the first drop-down to choose the school, teacher, class or group and student(s).
In the columns that open, choose the data that you want to see.
School network-level personnel choose the school, teacher and group; school administrators and non-teaching staff choose the teacher and group. Teachers can simply choose the group that they want to see data for. In the last column, you can also choose whether to see data for all students in the group or to select a student to see data for.
The groups that are available are custom groups that you have added for the Maths Dashboard and the STAR Benchmark groups, which are automatically set up based on student performance on STAR Maths tests and the benchmarks that you have selected in STAR Maths. Planner Trial maths groups may also be available.
Use the second drop-down list to choose the time period that you want to view data for: all time, the current school year, the current marking period, the last 30 days or the last 7 days.
Marking periods are set up in Renaissance Place when administrators or non-teaching staff choose School Years on the Home page and then choose Add/Edit Marking Periods.
The Maths Dashboard only recognises marking periods that have the type set to "Marking Period" (not other types such as mini-terms).
In the Maths Dashboard, when you choose Marking Period as the time period to view data for, Maths Dashboard uses the current marking period that has the type set to Marking Period.
You cannot select Marking Period in the Maths Dashboard if no school marking periods are set up in Renaissance Place.
How to View the Students in a Group and Diagnostic Charts
- In the Maths Dashboard Navigator, go to Growth and Achievement - Maths.
- Select the Groups drop-down list and choose the groups that you want to view.
You will see the groups and the students in each group, as well as graphs showing student performance.
If you only want to see the group names on the metric graphs, use the arrow to the right of the group name to collapse the group. When you do this, only the groups as a whole will be shown on the metric graphs, not the names of the students within the groups.
If you want to see student names, both within the groups and on the metric graphs, select the arrow to the right of the collapsed group name. When you do this, student names will show on the graphs instead of group names. You can move the cursor over a student's name to see that student's specific data for the metric.
If you need to make changes to groups that you have created, select Manage Groups at the top of the page. You can move or copy students between groups, add groups, delete groups and change group names. You can also automatically sort students into groups based on their STAR Maths results. If necessary, you can add new group sets or delete group sets.
